Move the head
Lift the hips and turn
Lesson: Upa Escape
Starting in the mount bottom position, a child will start with their hands on the floor on either side of their partners head. The weight will be distributed between the hands, hips and knees.
The student on bottom will trap the arm, trap the leg, move their head and lift their hips. Remind children to bridge in the direction that they are trapping the limbs.
Remind students to move their head in the opposite direction of the bridge by bringing their ear to their shoulder. Keep in mind this is a difficult concept as they are moving their head in the opposite direction of the bridge.
Possible Extensions:
You can pair this with the Cross Collar Choke as that is a way to trap the hand easier.
You can add a movement to get their hands onto the floor (bridging or pushing with the knee on the tailbone).
Possible Refinements:
Focus on the heels being close to the booty
Multiple ways to trap the arm (shark bite, gable grip)
